If you are given thirty minutes to live and twenty minutes have already passed.
What would you do with the ten more remaining minutes?
The answer is very simple… you have to make sure that they are your happiest.
To love yourself is something most people frown upon. Most people would regard self-love as being narcissistic, and selfish. Though it’s not necessarily true.
But what does it really mean to love yourself?
Self-love is a state of appreciation for oneself that grows from actions that support our physical, psychological, and spiritual growth. Self-love can mean many things; it differs for each person because we have different ways to take care of ourselves. Deciding to study abroad to almost everyone is merely just for the sake of financial endeavors.
But studying another language such as English as a Second Language or tests like IELTS or TOEIC, believe it or not, can be part of how you take care of yourself. Grooming your career into higher heights for your own sake is indeed self-love.
As a matter of fact, anything you do to grow is taking good care of yourself. And at first, it scary but doing things that we are uncomfortable with is necessary, it’s how we grow
On a more personal note, self-love to me means taking care of your own needs and not sacrificing your well-being to please others. In other words, self-love can be also worded as self-care. Figuring out the meaning of self-love to you is an important part of your mental health.
Choosing which set of clothes you wanted to wear to look good, deciding on what coffee to drink while studying, or going to another country to learn a language, could all be part of self-love.
To practice self-love, we often need to:
-
Listen to our bodies.
As human beings, it is natural to get exhausted no matter how much you put passion into your work. On top of that, take time to take breaks and have a breather. Baguio is known for its nature spots. Thus, a walk in nature can make you feel relaxed.

-
Eat Healthily.
Health is wealth but it’s also okay to indulge yourself with your favorite foods from time to time.

-
Prioritize yourself.
We are often burdened with endless responsibilities; the simple things we do for ourselves seem like a luxury. It’s never wrong to treat yourself once in a while. Reward yourself with a large cup of coffee, some time to watch your favorite movie, or go gaga with your idols’ new music videos.

-
Always be kind to yourself.
Remind yourself that you have to do your best not for anyone… but yourself. Your goal can be sometimes for your self-satisfaction. If other people appreciate your work, that’s a bonus. Negative comments cannot be helped; some people would really have something bad to say about almost everything. But always remember it’s for you; not for them. And it’s not your fault that people can’t pay with kindness.

-
You are not a narcissist.
Taking care of one’s self is not self-indulgent, arrogant, or proud. It only means you came to realize what you really need and what you truly want in life.

Travelling to the beach like in San Juan, La Union is surely rewarding.
-
Become your own best friend.
Treat yourself as you would treat your best friend. Because you deserve the love you give to others. What’s more, learn to comfort yourself to overcome challenges and pain. So when things are tough, find another way to make something great out of it.
