Fortunately, our school is situated near popular landmarks where students can take a break and experience serenity. Let’s take a look at these eight (8) walking distance tourist attractions:
1. The Mansion House and Reflection Pool
This famous attraction is only 2 minutes away from our school. The Mansion serves as the residence for the Philippine President whenever he has a business to attend to in Baguio City. With that, the Mansion is not entirely open to the public. However, you can still take pictures and catch a glimpse of the place from the entrance.
Across from the abovementioned attraction is the Reflection Pool. It inspired by the Taj Mahal in India. Tourists, especially nature lovers, can enjoy a breath of Baguio through their morning or night walk with the scent of the flowers and pine trees surrounding the area. The said attraction also serves as the training area for the runners.
2. Wright Park
Known for its horseback riding activity, whether alone or visiting in a group, this is the 2nd best place to interact with the locals. Imagine walking for only 3 minutes to this place then start engaging and learning about Baguio’s culture through your local guide or ponyboy, one who takes care of the horses, isn’t it interesting? Aside from the before mentioned activity, you can also buy and fancy the handmade crafts that reflect the creativity and passion for the arts of the locals.
3. Mines View Park
From our school, you are only 15 minutes away from this always-jam-packed yet very serene area, where you can take some deep breaths as you let that sense of relaxation take over your mind and soul through the image of a clear blue sky and green panorama. Or you can also let go of that hassle and worry by eating it out or buying some cool stuff.
4. Camp John Hay Eco Trail
Do you want to burn 60-500 calories and have fun at the same time? Then you must visit this 15 minutes away tourist attraction. Relish everything that this popular weekend adventure-filled getaway has to offer with a reminder that sweat is stress, negativity, and weakness leaving the body. Camp John Hay also offers other activities such as rappelling, paintball, tree top adventures, horseback riding, mini golf, and of course, shopping. Plus, you can also visit their butterfly sanctuary and then dine-in in at one of the many restaurants around the area. After all, adventure is about losing stress and gaining confidence.
5. Botanical Garden
This newly renovated attraction is only 10 minutes away from Pines International Academy. It features plant collections, art exhibitions, and different landmarks from different countries all over the world. It encapsulates the city’s creativity and friendliness. The ambiance and layout of the area also symbolize the character and connection that boost the tourism industry to total progress.
6. Bamboo Sanctuary in Pacdal
Being part of the National Greening Program of Baguio City, this place is perfect for nature lovers. From our school, it only takes a 20-minute walk to this attraction. Here you can’t resist but appreciate the dedication of the Seminary, an institution for the training of candidates for the priesthood, to reforestation as you discover the different types of bamboo. You can either relax alone or set up a picnic with your family and friends in the mountain at the end of the bamboo trail.
7. Prayer Mountain at Asia Pacific Theological Seminary
From the name itself and where it is, it is indeed where you find calm and rest. This broad place is only 20 minutes away from our school, and here you can meditate and reflect while being in a completely silent and serene space. Clear your mind and recharge properly so you can face anything with a new perspective the next day.
8. Busol Watershed
This one of the least enhanced yet well-maintained landmarks is only 18 minutes away from our school. Explore its vast area of trees, with a chayote plantation, under-explored caves, a wide selection of ornamental plants, and, a breathtaking view of the city. It is also known for its Japanese Trail history. However, since the area is not yet totally established as a tourist attraction, before going to the place, coordination with the local authorities is advised.
