Japanese and Koreans Conquer Mount Kalugong |PINES INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY [BLOG] 🎮 RECREATION, 👫 PEOPLE, 🚌 TRAVEL
An extreme way of studying English is communicating with your foreign friends AND doing something different like – HIKING! Get the Hiking information from this blog through the experiences of our Korean and Japanese students on their way to Mount Kalugong.
The Rule: English-only Policy during the Hike
It took 30 minutes by jeepney to reach the starting point of Mt. Kalugong from Pines International Academy.
FIRST STEP!
The students have walked their way to uphill residential areas and muddy roads. They have also encountered barking dogs! That’s true dogs were barking but there’s nothing to worry about as they are unleashed.

THE TOP
The climb wasn’t difficult, but the most interesting part is reaching the mountain summit! The trail here is a little bit slippery, so be sure to wear proper footwear like crocs and non-slippery trainers. At some point, the students broke the rule. They spoke in their mother tongue! It is because of the level of difficulty of climbing these big rocks!

THE REST
Aside from the 360 view, There’s also a cafe located on the summit area of Mount Kalugong! Yes! a CAFE.

The cafe serves refreshing beverages, and it really helped quench the thirst of everyone! This is where everyone enjoyed chatting in English. They shared stories and laughed at the funny situations they encountered while climbing the iconic rock formation just to get a nice photo of Mount Kalugong’s peak.
The coffee shop also has a comfortable spot for viewing La Trinidad Valley.
La Trinidad Valley view looks so majestic in the background of their photo. ALSO, hiking in nearby towns of Baguio is not as difficult as you think. The weather is most of the time okay; you won’t get sunburned. You don’t have to apply thick sunblock to protect your skin from the sun.
Enjoy learning with your friends and create memories that you will forever keep with them at Pines International Academy because studying English in the Philippines will never ever be boring!
